It is very good that Abdullah Pope has taken what was originally a series of articles in Subud Voice and turned them into a substantial memoir.
The memoir compels our interest on several different levels.The first is that Abdullah and his wife Salamah are living “history”. They have been involved in Subud since its arrival in the West when Bapak came to England in 1957.
Therefore, Abdullah is able to give an account of the development of Subud by one who “lived” it intimately.

This 16 page booklet is the edited transcript of a talk given by Sharif to the public in Los Angeles in 2000.
It covers aspects of his early childhood and how he found Subud whilst still at boarding school. Sharif also describes what happened to him when he was opened. He explains all of the essential aspects of what Subud is.
