In 1981 a seminar unlike any held before took place at Benaix in the Basses Pyrenées under the auspices of the Subud Brotherhood International Foundation. The participants were members of Subud – a spiritual movement that makes no propaganda for itself, and embraces all religions and all races. Its basis is a spiritual exercise that is at once an act of purification, inner education and worship.
The fifteen attending the seminar were mostly trained in the psychiatric and caring professions, and were from eleven different countries of origin.
